Note📝
DVLA covers Great Britain only. In Northern Ireland, driver licensing and vehicle testing are handled by the Driver & Vehicle Agency (DVA), but vehicle tax and registration are still handled by DVLA Swansea.
Driving tests, MOT and vehicle testing are not handled by DVLA. Contact the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) instead.

How do I get my driving licence re-issued?
- Apply online to replace a lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed full or provisional licence. You can also apply by phone or by post if you cannot apply online.
- DVLA will send a confirmation email once you have applied, and the licence should arrive within a week for online applications.
- If you find your old licence after applying, you must return it to DVLA with a letter explaining

Driving Licence
- Apply through Replace a Driving Licence .
- You must be a resident of Great Britain and not be disqualified from driving.

Vehicle Log Book (V5C)
- The V5C log book records who the vehicle's registered keeper is. Apply for a replacement through Get a Vehicle Log Book (V5C).
- You will need the vehicle's registration number, its VIN or chassis number, and the name and postcode registered on the V5C. The online service runs Mon-Fri 7am-9pm and Sat-Sun 7am-8pm.
- It usually arrives within 5 to 7 working days. Contact DVLA if it has not arrived after 2 weeks. Leave it past 6 weeks without telling DVLA and you will have to pay £25 for a replacement.
- Apply by post instead if you need to change any vehicle details, or if the vehicle is registered abroad or on the DVLA fleet scheme.
- If you applied for your last provisional licence before 1 March 1973, follow the first provisional licence process instead.
